Over the years of 2010-11 The Bowral Men's Shed Computer Section have worked along with Rotary to send some 150 refurbished computers over to the shools in The Pacific Islands. it was first instigated by Rotary who arranged for the computersto come from the Defence Department and the software though Microsoft. The Mens Shed Computer Group set up the operating systems, consisting of Microsoft Professional, Microsoft Office, and a Curriculum. All updates were installed and the coputers tested ready to be dispatched by Rotary to the Pacific Islands.

Keith Withers and Albert Hodgson both held computer courses for biginners later in 2010. Meanwhile the other members contiue to improve their knowldge and carry out new challenges under the guidance of our tutor Jorgen Neilson. Jorgen has worked with computers for most of his life and proves to be a great help to us by giving assisance when, with our limited knowledge, things get too complcated. He is affectionately known to us as our Guru.

The rest of the Group Dave Trainor, Brian Pemberton, Bryan Owen, Harry Lawrence continue to rebuild computers with the spares that we have savaged from donated computers. We also endevour to fix problems with computers that people bring in to the shed.

Albert Hodgson held computer courses for beginers over 2010 and Albert held another course for beginers on transfering audio from tape to C.D. over the month of May 2011. There may also be another beginners course down the track dependng on demand.

During October of 2011 we were asked by the Rotary Club if we could donate any computers to send to the Pacific Islands to help with the outfitting of a nursing home. Bryan Owen and Dave Trainor managed to assemble 4 computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, and cables for which they were most greatful to recieve.
